All pupils are given the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a personal development program for 14 to 24 year olds. The award is designed to be enjoyable whilst learning a wealth of new skills, such as self-reliance, teamwork and leadership. The award also helps students to push themselves physically, help others and explore new territories.
The award provides students with a balanced programme of activities that develops the whole person – mind, body and soul – in an environment of social interaction and team working. Taking part builds confidence and develops self-esteem. It requires persistence, commitment and has a lasting impact on the attitudes and outlook of all young people who take part.
The Endeavour Federation has a large and active Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme with almost all students taking part each year and we are proud to have the highest achievement rate among schools in the Manchester region. The Award aims to provide an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development for young people, which is of the highest quality and widest reach. It helps our students to become well-rounded, ambitious and adventurous individuals and is recognised by organisations around the world for the self-improvement and charitable works a young person must undertake to earn this coveted Award.
Achieving an Award gives our students the skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and beyond. They are recognised for doing things they want to do (and may even be doing already). They will make a difference to other people’s lives and their community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last them a lifetime.
Within the Endeavour Federation, all students are automatically entered for the Bronze Award.
With the help of a well-resourced framework, pupils choose their tasks and set their own objectives to attain their Bronze and Silver Awards, which require increasing levels of commitment to:
Students participate in activities from each section of the framework on a regular basis.
